What is Garden Maintenance?

Garden maintenance is the continuous care of a garden space and all its chosen plants and features. It involves a diverse range of activities depending upon the size and complexity of a garden. These might include: mowing, scarifying, aerating and feeding lawns; cultivating, weeding, mulching and improving soil; planting, feeding, deadheading and pruning of a wide range of plants; and cleaning hard surfaces such as patios, pathways and decking.

Seasonal changes in the garden require different activities. These include: leaf-clearance and planting spring bulbs in autumn, winter pruning (fruit trees & Wisteria, for example), lifting, dividing and replanting herbaceous perennials in early spring; feeding, deadheading and yet more pruning of plants in the summer. The list is long, often complex and requires a high level of knowledge to execute effectively.
